Review: Boris Brejcha - Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
Boris Brejcha brought his high-tech minimal mastery to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday night, delivering an unforgettable set. The energy built steadily throughout the evening, thanks to a solid lineup of support acts who each brought something unique to the table.
Papa Smurf kicked things off with a fun, groovy vibe that got people on their feet, followed by Moritz Hofbauer, whose melodic and atmospheric set added some depth. Ann Clue then stepped in and turned it up a notch, with her driving beats setting the perfect tone for what was to come.
When Boris finally stepped up to the ones and twos, he took things to another level. The volume ramped up, the bass was amping, and the crowd was fully locked in. Tracks like “Gravity” and “Take It Smart” kept the vibe hypnotic, while classics like “Purple Noise” had everyone cheering and throwing their hands in the air.
The visuals added an extra layer to the experience, perfectly timed with the music, but never distracting from it. Brejcha’s ability to seamlessly blend heavy drops with more intricate, melodic moments showed exactly why he’s a standout in the electronic music world.
This was one of those nights where everything came together, the supports set the scene beautifully, and Brejcha delivered in spades. If you’re into electronic music, catching him live should be on your must-do list.
