1. Can you tell us a bit about the latest release - Acoustic (EP)

Yep sure can! Last year I did an amazing series of shows in warehouse/hall locations all around Australia. It was the most special tour to date. Everyone brought their own food and snacks and sat on the floor. It was the first show my grandparents could come along to and they loved it! Well they probably would still say that even if they hated it…. From that I had a real drive to record a bunch of songs acoustically and release them. Most of the songs were recorded in Byron Bay with producer and good friend Garrett Kato.

2. What is your studio space like? Do you have writing processes that you work within?

Well I’ve just moved to Melbourne and have recently set up a new space. I did a major cleanup and am pretty happy with it now. Just got a few guitars and a keyboard. No amazing ocean views or a moat or anything fancy haha. I tend to just pick up a guitar or sit at the piano and play a few chords then sing some dummy melodies over the top until I lose myself in a particular pattern. I have a box of idea cards that I turn to if I need a push or a refocus.

3. What advice would you give someone who might be writing music now and looking to enter the scene?

Write as much as you can, that’s the best way to really figure out your style and improve your skills. Don’t be afraid of writing bad songs, you’ve got to wade through a lot of shitty ideas before you hit the good ones. Just be prepared for that and don’t be disheartened.

4. Top three touring tips?

1. Put healthy snacks and meals on your rider. 2. Carry a reusable bottle around and drink heaps of water 3. Pack runners and go for a walk/run wherever possible. It’s a great way to see the town you’re playing in

5. Favourite thing to do when you aren’t doing music?

Either a trip to the dog beach or playing or watching basketball
