Last year the Grass is Greener Festival set Northern Queensland alight with events in Cairns and Mackay. It featured the cream of Australia’s artists with a variety of acts spread across both events including electronic producers like Melbourne Bounce king Will Sparks, Sweat It Out artist Benson and Sydney’s Tenzin, alongside hip hop acts Ivan Ooze, HermitudeGill Bates and many more…

The festival received huge support from the local councils and communities to ensure its return and solidify itself across both region’s annual festival calendars. The dates for the 2017 15+ events have now been announced, and will feature an even bigger lineup and more spectacular production!

After over 5500 ticket holders attended last year’s event in Cairns, the massive parklands of the city’s Fogarty Park will host the festival for the third time on Saturday the 14th of October. With the 2016 edition selling out, this year’s chapter will feature even more space and production to accomodate the city’s demand for live music.

On Saturday the 21st of October the event will head south to Mackay for its second edition at the city’s beautiful Botanic Gardens. After 2016's inaugural event attracted 3000 plus revellers, the festival is well placed to become an annual highlight on the local region’s festival calendar.

The Grass Is Greener team will put a massive focus on nurturing the local regions, and both events will be put together by locals for the locals. Proceeds from BBQs at the events will also be donated back into the local communities.

This year’s lineup will feature arguably the biggest roster of local acts ever assembled for a one day event in Cairns and Mackay. Australia’s premier electronic live duo Peking Duk will headline both cities, with support from Triple J favourite and Adelaide-born rapper Allday; Skrillex’s OWLSA label alumni and former Flume collaborator, What So Not; Melbourne’s Indie Rock darlings British India who just finished recording their sixth studio LP, plus many more…!
