The Pleasure Garden today announces its first round of artists, headed by New Zealand dub powerhouse Fat Freddy’s Drop in their only Victorian performance for the year

After a hugely successful inaugural year, The Pleasure Garden is once again set to get the summer started. On Saturday 9 December, this boutique festival will see the Catani Gardens on St Kilda’s foreshore transform to create a collision of world-class music and immersive theatrical splendour.

Fat Freddy’s Drop will be joined by bass groovemeister Opiuo, Triple J darling and alt-pop princess Montaigne, hip-hop heartthrob Remi, Canadian bass and breaks party pilot Stickybuds, piratical gypsy folk favourites 8 Foot Felix, alongside Willaris.K, Mz Rizk, Rachel By The Stream and L-Fresh The Lion with more to be announced later in the year.

“No other act encapsulates the vibe and spirit of The Pleasure Garden like Fat Freddy’s Drop. This is the first time they have played in Melbourne in nearly two years and it’s their only Victorian show for the summer, so I know we’re in for a treat,” said Festival Director Goose McGrath.

This year’s Pleasure Garden also sees the addition of two new music arenas - Bass Station featuring bass, dub, and more on the Heartical HiPowa Soundsystem, and featuring artists such as Chant Down Sound, JPS, Lickweed, Monkee & C:1 + Dyzlexic and Mama Wonkita. The new House Party arena will host some of Melbourne’s best electronic acts including Thankyou City and Moodmachine with plenty more still to be announced.

To top it off, an expanded art and theatrical performance program will mean that this year’s Pleasure Garden will be even wilder and more immersive than ever before. Along with a huge line-up of musical offerings, the festival will also feature mischievous roving theatrical performances and a massive array of kaleidoscopic art installations.

With a history of recreation, relaxation and pleasure-seeking stretching back over a century, The Pleasure Garden will be the perfect setting for the festival.

Save the date.
