Can you tell us what Wild Turkey Music 101 mentorships means to you?

To me the Wild Turkey Music 101 mentorship means that I have the opportunity to perform alongside one of my idols and hopefully develop a relationship to work together in the future.

What do you hope to take away from the mentorship and why do you think mentorships such as this are so important?

The Wild Turkey Music 101 mentorship has really inspired me. Having the chance to sit down and discuss music and the music industry with someone who has so much experience is invaluable.

Who are some of your influences and why?

Matt is definitely one! I’ve realised through this mentorship that a lot of my influences are also producers such as Tom Misch, Max Ayres, D’Angelo. I also love Daniel Caesar, Allen Stone and so many other great artists!

What's the creative process for you, from writing through to recording?

I don’t like to force my writing. I think songs turn out better when you actually have something to say that you really want to get out of your system. I’m a singer / guitarist so I’ll then take the lyrics/chords/form/ melody to a producer that I believe fits the vibe I’m going for with the tracks and collaborate from there.

What do you think makes a great song?

Having something worth saying then taking influence from artists you love and making the song your own

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Again, would absolutely love to get in the Studio with Matt at Rainbow Valley. Tom Misch is definitely high on my list as well.

When not working on music, what other creative outlet/s do you have?

Not so much creative but I’ve recently moved away from being a full time athlete so I’m really enjoying having a bit more freedom with programming in the gym as well as surfing.

What else do you have planned for 2023?

I have my first ever tour Coming up in July. Playing Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. I also have a few singles and my second EP on the way- the first single being released early July!
