John! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us today. How are you feeling following the release of your newest (and sophomore!) single Some Day?

Thanks so much for having me! The whole team is so excited about this release, we've been planning and working on this for 6 months, and the timing is perfect. We're very happy with how it's started and can't wait to get some remixes out and continue to watch it grow.

Can you talk us through your production process? Who are your influences and what does your studio session look like?

I have a few very close friends and we work over Zoom at the moment and share ideas and concepts which is great. This record I've been on for around 6 months and have been seriously hooked on it since I first started. We knew it had potential to be big from early on, and felt Teamwrk was the ideal label to get it where we saw it going.

Joel Corry is a big influence of mine, especially with the reality TV background and the path he's taken, but also lately the likes of Imanbek, Topic and Joel Fletcher are artists that I've been taking notes on and directing my music in. They're super popular dudes, and Joel's 'VIBE' is something I'm so hooked on.

You’re also all over the TV! How do you cope with your busy lifestyle? Do you have a regimen that you stick to, to keep you inspired and ready to go every day?

It's interesting now with COVID because life has come to a complete halt. I'm actually enjoying the downtime!

Generally i'm pretty routined and struggle without it. Early morning gym, online by 6-7am, and studio time in the afternoons. With nothing filming or airing at the moment, and no shows or touring happening I have more free time than it may seem, maybe I need a hobby!

My Love Island series just aired in the UK which has been fun, seeing a new market start to follow my socials, we're hoping this plays a major part in this release.

Isolation has got everyone feeling a bit lost at the moment and dreaming about the ‘some day’ that restrictions are lifted and things go back to relative normalcy. What are your plans for when restrictions are lifted?

I can't wait to get back on the road. Playing shows is my favourite part of this whole process, and I can't wait to play this new music to crowds all over Australia and feel the reaction, hopefully it's positive!

We're also planning to get over to the UK and play some shows. I've been working closely with DJ Micky Quinn who is doing great things over there, and we have some really cool plans coming together. Hopefully we can get over there soon!

Tell us what the John James music project has on the horizon for the end of 2020, into 2021.

Some Day is the first of 3 records we have been working on, all quite similar. Our next moves will depend on how this release goes, but i'm certainly hoping to have another single out in 2020, and work some shows around that in the Summer. I'm really enjoying these 3 projects at the moment, and am in a really good space with it all. I should have some new plans come March/April but for now i'm so excited about these 3 releases!
