VIDEO PREMIERE: KELLY DANCE - SOCOTRA

In March this year, Australian born Hong Kong based Kelly Dance released her Sci-Fi infused album WILD GRASS via Broken Stone Records.  Inspired by Chinese Science-Fiction stories, the gorgeous and unique album captures, reflects and is a small tribute to living, loving and coming of age in Modern China.

She now shares with us a new video for the second single “Socotra”. The brain child of Hong Kong raised, French Taiwanese director and producer Marie Bouveron, the clip follows the interior world of a Cantonese kid (SK) at home, watching TV with his parents.

As the camera pans across the living room, it captures an uncanny mash up of cultures and influences that shaped Bouveron’s childhood, and others of her generation, growing up in one of the most ancient but fastest moving cultures in the world.

"I wrote this song about the digital divide, about the generation gap between parents and kids, where kids are caught between two worlds; the traditional and the modern”, Says Dance, “it was great working with Marie on this video because I love how she’s shown SK trying to express himself within the limits of this mundane domestic space, when all he wants is to be on the screen, like so many of us of our generation”

A limited vinyl edition of Wild Grass is now available for pre order.

Expected delivery November 1.
