Coinciding with the highly-anticipated return of ‘Stranger Things 2’, Laneway Festival is excited to announce that Austin synth four-piece S U R V I V E will join the 2018 festival line-up in Australia.

The announcement was made just now at the world’s largest ‘Stranger Things 2’ premiere event, held at the Sydney Opera House.

Two members of S U R V I V E are the brains behind the ‘Stranger Things’ original soundtrack, from the most talked about TV series of recent times. If you’re one of the few who haven’t heard their Grammy-nominated & Emmy-winning score in action, let us set the scene for you: it’s eerie and undulating music, almost palpable in its ability to create creepy 80s nostalgia. The soundtrack’s commercial success (#24 on the Billboard Charts and #8 on iTunes in Australia) was a cultural phenomena, but S U R V I V E’s expertise extends well beyond score writing.

Last year they shared their brilliant sophomore album RR7349, which was praised internationally (Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound) as a sprawling tour de force. The band then went on to play at Primavera Sound Festival and Coachella in 2017. Next week, S U R V I V E are dropping RR7387, a new remix EP with four reworks of their 2016 studio album.

During their very first Australian visit, the band will be performing music from both projects.
