What can we expect from KIT for the rest of 2020?

Hi KIT! Congratulations on the release of 'King Size Bed'. How does it feel to release your sophomore single under this project?
Oh thank you!! I'm really, really excited actually. It feels good to release something that people can dance about to and fantasise about the time when we can eventually all have a collective cuddle haha.

We heard you collaborated with quite the dream team on the new single. Who was involved and what was it like working with them?

It has all been really amazing. I love collaborating SO much and this was no exception. When I was in LA with Exes our friend Jake Sinclair found co-writers for us all to work with. I was paired with Jenny Owen-Youngs and we wrote this song with Jake (and another one called Give Me A Baby haha) and had THE best time. Those two days totally changed my life I think - it made me realise how much I adore songwriting. Then when I got back to Aus, I went to Sydney with James Seymour, Jarred Young and Rhiannon AH (AKA Merpire) and we recorded a bunch of songs with my dear friend Dave Symes - King Size Bed being one of them. Then just before lockdown James and I went into Small Time Studios and recorded the rest of the track. We had SO much fun and Rhi came and sang BVs with us. We drank wine and all stood around one microphone and just danced and yelled. It felt so good to blow off some steam!!!

You're also a member of All Our Exes Live in Texas. How does working on a solo act compare to a band?
It's totally different haha. On the one hand I get to make all the decisions about the music, art, creative direction, social media etc. but on the other hand I have to make all the decisions...!! It's selfishly liberating to do whatever the hell I want but I miss having three really smart women with brilliant ideas to suggest things and help with the hard stuff. I learnt so much from them all though so I definitely still have their voices in my head sometimes!

'King Size Bed' is about "not being able to get close enough to someone you love" - a timely message that a lot of us can relate to! But, what's something positive that's come out of lockdown for you?
Well. Weirdly I've found that social media can be used for good! I've been finding it a really nice way to spontaneously connect with people. We've had pub parties, online crosswords, an insta-choir - all in the name of building connection and community. I'm an intimacy junkie! I've also spent a lot of time on my own learning to really love hanging out with myself. I journal more, I'm calmer from all the meditating and most of all I actually just like myself a whole bunch more.

What releases do you have on repeat at the moment?
Argh such a hard question...!!! Idaho by Slow Pulp. They are SUCH A GOOD BAND.
Daisy by Kate Davis (from her 2019 album Trophy) and finally the JoJo Rabbit soundtrack...!!
So many great songs on that one - old and new.

What should we expect to hear and see from KIT in the rest of 2020?
I'm planning to release a couple more singles. I'd LOVE to play a bloody show too. THAT would be cool haha. But nothing is set in stone just yet.
We shall see!!!
