What’s next for Chris Watts?

PRESS SHOT 1 - CHRIS WATTS.jpg

It has been a few years since you’ve released any new music, what have you been up to Chris?

Writing, writing and more writing, session after session, demo after demo. I’ve been busy working with so many amazing producers and writers here in Australia and LA, which is where my new management is based. During this industrious period I’ve finally found my sound, my collaborators and the right management team. All these things combined have brought me to where I’m at right now with the release of ‘Over U’.

Tell us about the themes in your new single ‘Over U’?

The best way to describe it is, when you’re 4 months in after a breakup and you’re having that dialogue in your head, ‘Is it really over……… actually ‘over, over’ You haven’t spoken since and you start to think….. This is done, right? You then romanticise the relationship in your head and make no real effort to move on. So the overall theme is, being stuck, not knowing what you’ll do next.

You are based in Melbourne; how have you been occupying your time during these past months in isolation?

Stage 4 ‘ISO’ in Melbourne has not been the easiest, I can tell you that. However you only need to see what’s happening around the world to know that there are many people doing it a lot harder, it’s certainly a sobering thought as well as a reality check. Like many people in ‘ISO’ late night Netflix binging has been happening and lots of Uber eats, however most days I’ve been working on upcoming music releases for 2021. There’s so much to do prior to a song release, I’ve actually had plenty on my plate. My management and I have been trying to navigate our way through the music world during this unprecedented time of Covid. It has certainly been an interesting time for all artists. Either way, my mind is always on music as music is everything to me.

 What’s next for Chris Watts?

My aim is to get as much new music out as possible in 2021. Production is a lengthy procedure but we’re endeavouring to drop quite a few singles in 2021. Once Covid has settled down, my sights will be set on hitting the stage again. It’s also been a while since my last headline show, I’m busting to play these new tunes live!
