What inspired you to create St Sinner?

I guess I was just sick of not doing anything about the issues that I could see around me. I wanted to create something that was an unapologetic expression of how I felt and the energy that I think resonates in our generation. Not just in regards to politics but across all fronts. I was inspired by our generation being a really powerful force for change and I wanted a medium to express that through.

How would you describe your music to your Grandparents?

If you can picture what you think a young long-haired yahoo sounds like, then that’s exactly what it sounds like.

 What is Mr Prime Minster about?

Mr Prime minister comes from a place of intense frustration. I felt like our generation was not being represented and that the people in power were blatantly ignoring our voices. The 2020 bushfires in Australia and the way that the government handled them was really a massive trigger. I could see the effects of corruption that is rampant in politics, especially around money.

But the song isn’t exclusive to the Australian Government, it’s really calling out leadership that fails to support the people it’s sworn to.

Where do you live / What do you love about your hometown?

I live in Cooma but most of the band work gets done out of Canberra.

I love that Canberra is still very much an emerging music scene. It hasn’t quite got the depth or the breath of somewhere like Melbourne or Sydney but it’s really cool to be a part of a scene that is still forming and to be able to help shape that scene.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

I can’t remember who told me this. I have racked my brain for weeks and can’t come back with it BUT someone once told me to ‘ trust my first instinct because it’s usually the right one’. I live by this in most situations.

We have a few super exciting things coming down the line, we’re working on another single and then possibly....maybe.... an EP down the line. GONNA BE HUGE.
