‘All Over You’ showcases a more upbeat approach to your style of music. What’s the main story behind this song? How did you find the writing procedure?

The main story behind the song is just about crushing hard on someone and wanting them all over you and you wanting to be all over them. It’s just a really cute summer crush song. At the time I wrote this I was in a real lovey-dovey mood and I expressed it pen to page. I remember I was in the studio with my sister and she started humming this real nice melody, which became the chorus and I was like ‘oh my gosh that’s it’. From there the song flowed like water and we just bounced off the idea of being all over someone.

Your vocals and flow just seem so effortless and mesmerising. How long ago did you begin singing? Was A.GIRL always a project you had sights for since you were young?

I started singing at a mad young age but was always super shy about it. However, a few life experiences led me to learn that life is short and that I shouldn’t hide this gift anymore. I then spoke up and told my mum about me wanting to sing and I’m pretty sure we had a conversation like: ‘Can you sing?’ It was hilarious, but from then till now my mum has always encouraged and pushed my music. From a young age being a singer-songwriter was always the goal, but I never really had ‘A.GIRL’ in my mind. The concept and idea that was there and then A.GIRL came along and made all my ideas a reality.

You’ve had a frantic six months, releasing 3 singles, playing at BIGSOUND, opening at Listen Out Festival, and supporting the likes of Winston Surfshirt and Lil Spacely. What’s been your personal favourite highlight so far?

2019 was a crazy year for me and my music. It has really been an up and down, round and around roller coaster, but my personal favourite highlight was definitely playing at Listen Out. Performing on the same line-up as some of the music industry’s greatest artists was a dream. The backstage area was a level of VIP I hadn’t experienced EVER before. I was sitting next to Doja Cat while Chillinit walked past and ScHoolboy Q just walked in with his crew. It was surreal, honestly. Biggest highlight of my musical career up until now.

Those who have seen you perform live would know you have an extensive catalogue of fantastic unreleased tunes. How much is there in the pipelines that you’re currently sitting on (if you’re allowed to tell)?

Yes, those who have been to my live shows would know I got a lot of unreleased music that I only perform live. There’s a fair amount of songs I’m sitting on and ready to just pop off and release to the world, but all in good time.

You’re starting off the year supporting Bootleg Rascal on select regional dates. What’s next after that?

After that... the world. ❤
