A QUICK CHAT WITH LAMALO

Amazing new track! Love the sounds in this one, it sounds so meaningful. Can you tell us what the track is about?

Thanks heaps! The track is mainly about freedom and empowerment. It’s about feeling trapped in our day to day lives and slowly breaking down the barriers to become the people we really want to be. It’s about realising who we really are and not hiding it anymore.

Can you talk us through your song writing process? Is there anything unique about the way your songs are written?

The song-writing process began with the chorus piano chord progression and the descending motif that you hear in the first verse. We had heard Amy’s voice before our session together and thought that she’d be perfect for what we had. When we got into the studio together, we decided that we wanted the rhythmic parts of the song to sound natural like twigs snapping or like crickets in the night and the whole jungle theme of the song came from that.

We are facing some pretty hard times at the moment. The music industry has taken a huge hit during the pandemic. How have you been handling it?

We have been using this time to write and produce our upcoming singles. We had played one of our favourite gigs just before the quarantine period so having the scene shut down for a bit was a bit of a blow, but we are so keen to be gigging again once venues open up and festivals come back!

Do you guys have any hidden talents or interests outside of music?

We once did, Mich was a national baseball player as a kid and I was a promising soccer player but since high school, music has really become our lives and our passion.

Super excited about the music video for ‘Jungle Train’. Can you tell us a little bit about what we can expect from the video?

Three things. Bohemian outfits, phenomenal dance moves and a healthy dose of awkward eye contact. Oh, and trains. You’ll get to see all of these things and more across exotic locations such as Revesby Station and the bush at my grandma’s farm.

Thanks heaps and all the best!
