CERES REVEAL NEW SINGLE STRETCH UR SKIN FEATURING WIL WAGNER

Melbourne heart throbs Ceres are supporting The Smith Street Band on their album tour throughout May and June around the country. Last night we saw triple j Good Nights premiere brand new single Stretch Ur Skin featuring Wil Wagner from The Smith Street Band. The track is taken from an exclusive limited edition 7" also titled Stretch Ur Skin.

Tom Lanyon talks about Stretch Ur Skin single, "Stretch Ur Skin is almost a Roll Ur Eyes Part II. But probably not. It’s about not being someone you’re not. Or something like that. Bits of the song had been lying around for an eternity; it wasn’t until realising a companion piece for Drag It Down On You was an inevitability, did things start to crystallise in my mind. Getting the chance to work with Wil, a good friend (and not-so-small inspiration) on the song, was also quite the trip. We wanted the work to be truly collaborative, not just a guest vocal—so we wrote and re-wrote the song, together and separately to craft something we were both proud to be a part of. Did we get there? Who knows. But it is Wil’s favourite Ceres song supposedly. A little convenient, don’t you think?"

While Wil Wagner adds, "When Tom first asked me to collaborate with Ceres I was really excited. Not just because I would get to make music with a band I love but because it's always so fun getting to hang out with these guys. We sent some ideas back and forth and both wrote and re wrote our parts and then went to Sing Sing South one night to piece our ideas together. It all fell into place very naturally and organically and I couldn't happier with the end result! The entire band kills it on this song, the drum and bass groove at the start is a cool departure from classic Ceres stuff and Sean's guitar solo absolutely rips. I'm very flattered to be involved and stoked on how this song turned out!"

The 7" vinyl will only be made available at The Smith Street shows. It features 3 tracks, two of the songs were recorded as part of the Drag It Down On You sessions last year and the A-side is Stretch Ur Skin, which features Wil Wagner of The Smith Street Band.

Tom Lanyon explains the 7", "Stretch Ur Skin EP ended up more like a companion piece to Drag It Down On You than anything else. A little sister all of you never wanted, maybe. Cobbling together the new and the old and the reworked felt more right than you would think. Like an extension of the last record. Like it was always going to happen. Maybe even had to happen. I guess they call that an inevitability. Having the chance to collaborate with good friends made it all the more serendipitous. I’m glad these songs could see the light of day—and glad we could give them a chance on the ears and hearts I think they deserve, but never would say out loud (especially in a press quote)."
