THE KITE STRING TANGLE REVEALS VIDEO FOR 'THE PRIZE' + DEBUT ALBUM OUT THIS FRIDAY
With his highly anticipated self-titled debut album out this Friday, today ARIA nominated artist The Kite String Tangle reveals the stunning visual accompaniment to the album’s second single 'The Prize' feat. Bridgette Amofah (Rudimental). The album release will be followed closely by a must-see set at this month’s Splendour in the Grass.
The video for ‘The Prize’ was a hometown affair for The Kite String Tangle (aka Danny Harley) who wanted to shine a light on the incredible talent in his own backyard, and marks the first time that he has been heavily involved in the production of one of his video clips.
“It was amazing to work with such a great team of people. From the choreographer and dancers to the production crew and runners, everyone was so easy to work with and because I had hand picked each part of the team, there was a real sense of collaboration and that this was an all-inclusive project that everyone was invested in” says Harley. “I wanted the video clip to complement the music and not distract from it and I think we’ve ended up with something really quite arresting and I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it"
Harley collaborated with choreographer Jack Lister and leading dancers Lucy Green and Rian Thompson from the Queensland Ballet to bring his vision to life. The video was directed by Allan Hardy and Cameron March and executive produced by Macario De Souza, who between them have worked with local talent including Dune Rats, Sampa The Great, ILLY and Kita Alexander.
Fans have been treated to an extra taste of the debut album ahead of the release, with the opening track 'Waiting' available today on all digital services.
The Kite String Tangle album was produced over a three-year period and saw the bedroom producer move his recording process into a studio with live drums, strings, horns and more. Written, performed and self-produced, the album is mixed by Grammy Award Winning Engineer Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, Flight Facilities, SAFIA) and features include elusive Gold Coast artist and I OH YOU signee Montgomery.
The triple threat producer, vocalist and songwriter made waves with his single ‘Given The Chance’, a track that reached Gold status in Australia, ‘Arcadia’, ‘Stone Cold’ and ‘What If’ followed; tracks that by now – are ubiquitous to the Australian music landscape. Alongside sold-out national headline shows, celebrated festival appearances including Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival and Groovin the Moo, The Kite String Tangle landed in the Top 20 of both the 2013 & 2014 triple j Hottest 100’s. His West Coast support slot on the RUFUS tour followed on from a series of sold out shows on his co-headline tour with Dustin Tebbutt to celebrate their collaborative Illuminate EP.
With a debut album on the way and festival spots lined up, this year is set to be the biggest yet for arguably one of Australia’s most talented emotive electronic artists.
