BORN JOY DEAD UNVEIL NEW FUZZ-LADEN SINGLE ‘SINKHOLE HOLIDAY’ AND EAST COAST TOUR DATES

Brisbane-based indie-rock quartet Born Joy Dead are excited to announce East Coast touring dates and reveal the lead single ‘Sinkhole Holiday’ lifted from their forthcoming sophomore EP ‘Throw us in the Fire’ (due October 2017) – produced and mixed by Sean Cook (Big Scary, Velociraptor) and recorded at Plutonium Studios, Brisbane.

The fuzzy and garage-rock-esque ‘Sinkhole Holiday’ opens with sweeps of clean guitar and the enthralling vocals of Ben Dalton. Accompanying elements gradually build within the verses, before the dynamic dips; accentuating the impact of its soaring and infectious chorus. The remainder of the song is meticulously navigated, shining a light on Born Joy Dead’s ability to inhabit tracks and allowing them space to breathe.

Dalton describes the motivation behind the track:

“Sinkhole Holiday is in itself, a little four-minute journey. I wanted to explore some of the shittier personal things that have plagued me from time to time like anxiety, stress and doubt and portray them in a way that makes the listener feel just as lost as I was. But, as holidays end, so do shit times, so there’s a kind of ‘Keep your chin up,’ vibe happening in there too.”

Following on from supports slots with British India, Ball Park Music and Bad//Dreems, the band will set out on a September / October headline run of the eastern states with performances in Brisbane, Wollongong, Sydney and Melbourne.

Born Joy Dead’s previous tracks have been strongly supported by the likes of triple j, Spotify, community radio and worldwide blogs Indie Shuffle (USA), God is in the TV (UK) and The Guardian (UK).

In the coming weeks, Born Joy Dead will unveil an accompanying music video for ‘Sinkhole Holiday’.

‘Sinkhole Holiday’ will be available via Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and all other good digital retailers on Friday July 28th.
