BACKYARD UNVEIL BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘REALITY TELEVISION’
Equipped with endearing suburban charm and a few instruments, Melbourne locals Backyard are today thrilled to share their newest serving of nostalgic Australiana pop music, in the form of single ‘Reality Television’.
In its creation, the single made its way across the globe, with recording by Kieran Daly and Chris Wright at Dorigo Rise and Purple Wayne here downunder, and mixing by Dan Horne at Lone Palm Studios in Los Angeles, California.
Comprised of Adnan Kadric (Vocals / Guitar), Thomas Barlow (Drums), Joe Daly (Bass), and Leon Andrews (Guitar / Vocals), Backyard have a penchant for creating understated tunes about life in Melbourne’s western suburbs and country Victoria. These themes have stemmed from the beauty Adnan found in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs, having found refuge there after fleeing Bosnia with his family in the early 90s.
Their previous singles ‘Best View of Dean St’ and ‘Young and Old’ earned world-wide radio and blog attention, and saw their 7-inch single launch for the former attract a packed-out crowd at Melbourne’s Workers Club. Late last year, the four-piece began recording new material and performing a string of introductory shows with some national and local favourites, including John Steel Singers, Bored Nothing, Seagull, Big Smoke, and Jim Lawrie.
Falling somewhere between Paul Kelly and Real Estate, yet maintaining a certain “scruffy” quality unique only to them, Backyard are now gearing up to grace listeners with even more of their charming suburban pop.
