THE CREASES release debut LP Tremolow

It is with much pleasure that Liberation release Tremolow - the long-awaited debut record from Brisbane indie pop connoisseurs, The Creases. Since their humble beginnings in 2014 with the Gradient EP, the bands inexorable progression has been beautiful to watch. To mark the album’s release, the band have shared a live VHS of 'Is It Love' – a fun hint of what’s to come once the Tremolow Tour hits this September.

Recorded in Melbourne over multiple sessions with producer Malcolm Besley (Northeast Party House, City Calm Down), the band birthed 11 blissful Brit-pop enthused jams, soaked in lush retro soundscapes, sing-along melodies and hyperactive rhythms.  The album features guest vocal appearances from Hatchie and Ali Barter, as well as a welcomed addition of brass and strings from members of Saskwatch and Dorsal Fins. The Creases’ interplay is at its alchemical best on Tremolow, with each track as strong as the one it follows.

“It's important for us when we’re recording to be away from distractions and everybody we know, so shacking up together in an AirBnB for a month definitely had some kind of influence. It was probably the closest time and most fun we've had together.” – Joe Agius

‘Is It Love’ is the fourth single to be lifted from Tremolow and showcases a darker side to Agius’ award winning song writing. Met with only love, it’s currently spinning on rotation at triple j and reached #5 on AMRAP’s Metro Radio Chart. The Creases live recreation of the track, which was filmed at Plutonium and is now missing from the 90’s shelf at Rage, features Hatchie on BV’s. Get lost in it below.

oe Agius has created a bunch of the band’s videos for this album campaign. ‘In My Car’is a psychedelic exploration of the cosmos from behind a windscreen, whilst ‘Everybody Knows’ features four mates kicking it on streets of their hometown. They’ve also dropped a NSFW clip for ‘Is It Love’, which you can view privately in your own time.

The Tremolow Tour begins in just over a month and will see The Creases visiting major Australian cities throughout September. The five shows will blast a desirable blend of raucous rock n roll and shining pop – delivered with the honest confidence of a young band on the rise.

The bands' live show is well honed, having just wrapped up a tour with Two Door Cinema Club and prior to that another with Bad//Dreems. Their previous headline tour back in February was completely sold out. Internationally, their music has been spun on Beats 1 and they recently signed to UK’s Primary Talent agency. Their tracks have also appeared in a deep bag of Spotify and Apple Music playlists.

The Creases are still the same precocious Brisbane kids you know and love – now they’re just a little older, a tiny bit wiser, undeniably more assured, but no less spontaneous, affable or fun. The free-fall of their initial hype is over and Tremolow proves that they’ve stuck the landing.

Tremolow is out worldwide through Liberation.
