The song ‘Dominon’ reflects on Australia’s recent bushfires. What made you decide that you were going to write a song about such a tough time?

It was a buildup of emotion that truly needed to be expressed. The musical structure of the song had already been created some time ago, with the extremity of the fires, the devastation, the sadness & helplessness felt by many. I needed to sing and be a voice for the people and the animals, a voice for Country.

How did you get the name ‘Nainiouman’?

It's what my Weilwan (Indigenous) Grandmother called me as a child. It means Nanny's Woman.

What are your hobbies / passion projects outside of music?

My life consists of promoting care for Country via varying mediums and platforms. I do this through education, the arts and wellbeing avenues.

What was it like volunteering at a disaster relief centre and seeing the devastation of the fires up close?

It keeps it real; it keeps you motivated and close to people who know how to respond with all that they've got to give. You get to see how much is really needed, the things we might otherwise take for granted for both humans and animals alike.

Can we expect any more music from Nainiouman in 2020?

 Yes
