HEART PEOPLE UNVEIL DEBUT EP HOMECOMING
Heart People, the creative Australian duo formed by Ryan Grieve (Canyons) and visual artist and model Rachel Rutt, have unveiled their debut six-track EP Homecoming. The EP is released today through Hole in The Sky Records.
“The EP is about blurring a line between what is considered pop and what isn’t,” explains Ryan Grieve. “Our main influences being The KLF and The Eurythmics, looking back into the 80s and 90s when these artists were dominating the charts, their music wasn’t always immediate and accessible but it was always challenging and thought provoking to the listener, in a way that made you invest and engage on a somewhat deeper level. This is what we hope is in store for "pop" music once again in the future.”
The EP is accompanied with a special remix version of each track. The remixers were chosen as a way to help explain the origins, influences and feelings the duo try to get across in their music, as well as showing who they listen to and feel are contributing something special to music at the moment. The remixers include the legendary Andrew Weatherall, Tolouse Low Trax, Leo James, MR TC and Paul Jextra.
With over a decade in the Australian dance scene and abroad, Ryan Grieve is at the intersection of dance music, indie-pop and immersive audio-visuals as one half of DFA / Modular signed band Canyons and co-founding the label Hole In The Sky who first broke Tame Impala and Pond. Rachel Rutt comes from a career as a model in both the Australian and international fashion industry, alongside a visual arts practice, pursuing textile as a craft. This led to collaborations with acclaimed ethical fashion brands such as Tome NYC and Wool and the Gang, evolving into documentation, combining film, music, and costume in a visual exploration. With her work with Ryan these mediums have come together once again to visually support the world of Heart People.
Heart People craft a unique and expansive sound that incorporates elements of dance music with emotive vocals and lyrics. Heart People is a multi-sensory experience with strong visual accompaniment to their ever-expanding soundtrack.
