A QUICK CHAT WITH TOM FROM THE LULU RAES

Tell us about how The Lulu Raes formed?

Taras basically got everyone together to jam a few demos. He knew me (Tom) through my sister, he used to play in a few bands with Ed a while back and saw Marcus on the beach one day and thought we needed a cool looking bass player. Sweet Angus is my high school best mate, and inevitably joined soon after on guitar.

What do you think has been the highlight of your music journey so far?

Being able to travel anywhere to play music is always incredible, especially when it comes with the opportunity to watch amazing bands live. We toured Australia and NZ with Happy Mondays which was awesome and playing Falls Festival was a total ball.

Tell us about your upcoming shows to celebrate the release of your new track ‘Can’t Run No More’.

It’s just gonna be a really fun time. We haven’t played a proper show in a long while, so we are all really excited to hit it again after spending so long writing and recording. I might take my shirt off, and Taras has warned he might wear something saucy.

What do you love most about performing?

I love going all out and using the adrenaline that playing live gives you to hit an energy that you can’t get at just about any other time in life. The only downside is I sweat bullets at the lowest physical exertion, so I end up shining bright like a diamond behind the kit.

What’s one of the biggest goals for the band that you have not yet achieved?

A really long regional tour with the major cities in there as well. The Lulu Raes are yet to crack the rural demographic, but we are working hard!
