Love Drunk Hearts let us know their childhood music icons

Those Boys Hero.jpeg

We recently caught up with Aussie band Love Drunk Hearts. We spoke about how the band started and came up with the epic name, all about the latest track ‘Those Boys,’ and loads more.

Check out their latest song and video:

LYRICS: There you go again my love With your fucking games I've heard them all before your lies They're spilling out your brain I'm on the wire You're drench...

Boys, love the name. How did this come about?

Thanks! It started as a song title. The song was about being perpetually heartbroken, wild eyed and open to anything, basically Aaron for a while. Aaron writes so many notes in his phone that it was suggested when searching for a band name to scroll and shortlist the ones that sprung out. It’s better as a band name than a song.

I hear the band started thanks to quite a serendipitous meeting. Tell us the story!

There was a warehouse in Brookvale on the Northern Beaches which was a bit of a hub for a lot of musicians and bands. Some features included an Elvis picture on the wall and a bike hanging from the ceiling. Benny had auditioned Chris to play in his old band Bec and Ben and also invited Chris along to a party at the warehouse. Aaron was there with some pretty raw and undefined songs and hit it off with Chris over ‘Rock The Casbah’.

The Aussie music scene has been hit hard this year..
What are you guys doing to maintain a rhythm  and keep on track with your music?

Totally, we miss playing live so much, but have enjoyed having more time for writing and learning the ropes with video production and marketing/promotion.

Any childhood music icons who influenced your love of music?

Prince and INXS! Mum used to play these all the time. Neil Young is a huge one. Aaron listened to a lot of hip hop in his teens like Biggie, 2PAC, NAS etc. That’s where his love of a great hook was born.

Tell us about the latest track

Those Boys. It’s easier than ever to fall in love. It’s also easier than ever to be head over heels only to be left stranded for the allure of someone else. The song is an anthem for anyone who has been a spectator from the friend zone.

Inspiration behind the video? It’s quite unique!

The inspiration for the video came from the title of the song (i.e. ‘Those Boys’). It along with the lyrics tend to ignite ideas that sometimes many men or boys can get lost in their own world of interest or passion. The 1978 BMX footage (that we were so fortunate to use) was a perfect vehicle for this, showing all the men passionately supporting each other, when people not part of this scene might not find it interesting/impressive at all.

Any new upcoming music we can get excited about?

We’re currently putting the final touches on a new song, set to be released real soon and also getting ready to film some draft ideas for the video this week.
