AUSTRALIAN LABEL ETCETC SIGNS PACES TO REPUBLIC RECORDS
Australian electronic music label etcetc has today announced that it has signed Gold Coast producer Paces to U.S. label Republic Records; a deal which includes local success “Savage” which will receive a global push by the industry heavyweight. “Savage” featuring Nyne was released by etcetc in January of this year and was immediately added to high rotation on triple j. The track has now had over 6 million plays on Spotify. Republic Records is home to an all-star roster of multi-platinum, award-winning artists including The Weeknd, Drake and Lorde.
On the signing, Brett Alperowitz, Senior Vice President, A&R, Republic Records, said, "The Casablanca and Republic labels are very excited to welcome Paces to our artist roster. “Savage” is a fantastic tune that we feel can have success here in the US and around the world. The song was our point of discovery for this talented artist, but we look forward to more great music from Paces.”
Aden Mullens, Head of etcetc, said, “As a humble Australian indie label, it's affirming to have the excitement and support of one of the biggest labels in the world. Paces, Falcona and etcetc are looking forward to working with Brett and the global Casablanca/Republic team breaking Paces in key global territories."
In a few short years, Paces, aka Mikey Perry, has gone from uploading his own releases to triple j Unearthed, to signing with etcetc (home to leading Australian electronic artists PNAU, Luke Million and Kilter), releasing his debut album Vacation to great acclaim, becoming a finalist in MTV Brand New, and taking out Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2016 inthemix Awards. Vacation reached the top 20 of the iTunes album chart and No. 2 on the iTunes Electronic chart in Australia and featured a plethora of guest vocalists including Jess Kent, Kučka, Guy Sebastian and Baltimore’s Rye Rye. TheRepublic signing comes shortly after Paces signed a worldwide publishing deal with Primary Wave and BMG out of New York.
As well as touring nationally for Vacation, Paces has supported the likes of Dillon Francis, Illy and Marshmello on their Australian tours, and will soon be announcing a tour in support of his latest single “Creepin” which was released by etcetc last Friday after being premiered by triple j.
