What does the remainder of 2020 have in store for Ben Alpine?

Firstly, congrats on the release of your debut single ‘All In Your Stride’. What was the inspiration behind the song?

The song came off the back of a particularly bad 2018 where I just felt completely lost. I was so ready for change in my life and was willing to actively work towards that. The song is me just saying 'no more', and really pulling myself out of that period of my life. It's about personal growth more than anything.

How would you describe your sound?

I don't know! I've been throwing around the term ‘guitar-driven, electronic, alt-pop’ which will do for now, but I feel like the stuff I've been working on at the moment already deviates from that...

2020 has been a difficult year for the music industry. How has COVID-19 affected your creative process?

Luckily for us, we were wrapping up this batch of songs just as the restrictions really kicked in. Since then I've been working on new music and it's definitely a little frustrating not being able to collaborate a bit more cohesively. But I'm trying to embrace the solitude of it and I've gotten into the habit of some late-night Ableton sessions, and writing some stuff that I'm pretty happy with!

What’s currently on your playlist?

Dominic Fike, The Teskey Brothers, and Mr. Bill.

What does the remainder of 2020 have in store for you?

I've got a bunch more songs queued up for release! Apart from that, just working on more music and hopefully starting to arrange what a live set might look like for me.
